Q&A

What was the first job you had?

During summer and winter breaks in college, I worked on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange as a trading assistant for the largest designated primary market-maker at the time. I stood as a clerk in what we called the “Internet Pit,” where we were pricing and recording trades of derivatives of brand new stocks like Google, eBay, and Amazon. At the time, the majority of the floor’s volume was still traded the old-fashioned way with people shouting to each other in open outcry, and writing down orders. The trades we were recording by hand were investments in the digitalization of the future.

What attracted you to TSG?

I was attracted to TSG by the team and its mission to help build transformational global consumer brands. Consumers will vote with their wallets for the future they want, and I admire the dedication and hands-on approach the TSG team takes to supporting brands that are driving change across sectors.

What have you learned from working with entrepreneurs?

Work is play for entrepreneurs! I have also learned that entrepreneurs are flexible. Entrepreneurs will embrace different viewpoints, personalities, languages and credos: Business is a universal language and I have learned that working together brings people together.

What are your greatest sources of inspiration?

My family is my inspiration and my driving force. In particular, I am inspired by watching the paths my kids are trying to carve, and by the future in general. I love to think about the connection between generations, and combining history with innovation is exciting. While products themselves may change, the fundamental human goals remain the same.
