Prior to joining TSG Consumer Partners, Lea was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she advised consumer retail and ecommerce clients on digital marketing, customer lifecycle management, and corporate strategy. Lea graduated with a BA in Economics and MS in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University.

What brings you the most joy in your job?
The opportunity to work with entrepreneurs that make the products that I personally love as a consumer is a tremendously rewarding and unique experience. You gain appreciation for the incredible amount of grit that turns their dreams into every product you use, eat, and wear.
What was the first job you had?
I worked as a staff writer for a local lifestyle magazine in Shanghai, which meant reviewing new restaurants, locating trendy boutiques, and seeking out the best weekend events. That experience gave me my first opportunity to think hard about what mattered to consumers and why.
What attracted you to the business of brand building?
As a former aspiring journalist and an almost-English major, I have always been fascinated by the art of storytelling, and brand building is exactly that. The best brands tell a great story over and over in different ways – and in doing so, they don’t get old. Everyone always remembers a great story.
